Enabling SpywareBlaster's powerful protection is easy. And once protection is enabled, you can exit the program and you will still be protected. You do not have to start up SpywareBlaster each time you start your computer or run SpywareBlaster in the background. Your protection remains in place until you disable it (whether SpywareBlaster is running or not).

Simply do a manual update at least once a week to download the latest protection (or consider AutoUpdate).

Enabling Protection:

To enable protection for all database items:

  • Open SpywareBlaster
  • Click on the "Enable All Protection" link under Quick Tasks
  • Exit the program - you're done!

To selectively enable protection:

  • Open SpywareBlaster
  • Each tab at the top of the Protection window allows you to enable/disable protection for its own Block List (e.g. Intenet Explorer, Restricted Sites, and other browsers)
    • To enable protection for items on a Block List, first select the check boxes at the top of the window (e.g. "Prevent spyware/tracking cookies")
    • Uncheck any items in the Block List which you do not want to block, then select "Remove Protection for Unchecked Items" (see Using the Block List)
    • If there is an item you never wish to block, you can place it on the Ignore List
    • Select "Protect Against Checked Items"

Disabling Protection:

To disable protection for all database items (remove all protection):

  • Open SpywareBlaster
  • Click on the "Disable All Protection" link under Quick Tasks
  • Exit the program

To selectively disable protection:

  • Open SpywareBlaster
  • Each tab at the top of the Protection window allows you to enable/disable protection for its own Block List (e.g Intenet Explorer, Restricted Sites, and other browsers)
    • To disable protection for all items on a Block List, uncheck the check boxes at the top of the window (e.g. "Prevent spyware/tracking cookies")
    • To disable protection for only certain items, uncheck any items in the Block List which you do not want to block (see Using the Block List)
    • If there is an item you never wish to block, you can place it on the Ignore List
    • Select "Remove Protection for Unchecked Items"

NOTE: Uninstalling SpywareBlaster does not disable its protection. You must use "Disable All Protection" before uninstalling to ensure that all protection is removed.
